102. Models and Mortals (C)
CARRIE: (Voice-Over) I began to realize that being beautiful is like having a rent controlled apartment overlooking the park: completely unfair and usually bestowed upon those who deserve it least
(Big walks into the café and sits down opposite Carrie)
BIG: I'm not interrupting your work am I?
CARRIE: (with a big smile) Hey, what a surprise
BIG: I can't stay. I'm late for a meeting, but I've been thinking about your article about men who date models
CARRIE: What about them?
BIG: First of all, well there are so many goddamn gorgeous women out there in this city
CARRIE: (sarcastic) What an amazing observation
BIG: But the thing is, after a while you just wanna be with the one that makes you laugh, you know what I mean? Okay, see ya
CARRIE: (Voice-Over) I take that back, beauty is fleeting, but a rent controlled apartment overlooking the park is forever.
rent-controlled apartment: 租金便宜的公寓。美國針對部分低收入戶有房屋租金上的補助與優惠。
103. Bay of Married Pigs (A)
CARRIE: (Voice-Over) Hampton houseguests are always required to sing for their supper. Brokers give investment advice. Architects, design advice. Single people give married friends tidbits from their sexual escapades. The next morning I woke up feeling rested and fabulous. I couldn't wait to go out and take in the spectacular view.
Peter: Morning. Patience went out to get juice and muffins. She'll be right back.
CARRIE: (Voice-Over) There he was--full-frontal friend.
CARRIE: (Voice-Over) He just stood there, casual, happy, hanging out. I didn't know what to do or say. I only knew one thing-- that's way too much Peter before coffee.
103. Bay of Married Pigs (B)
CARRIE: So I told her I didn't understand why she was so upset. She said I couldn't understand it. I'm single.
MIRANDA: And what? Single women prowl beach houses... hoping for glimpses of their friends' husbands' dicks?
CHARLOTTE: How good a friend was she?
MIRANDA: What's the difference? When someone gets married, all bets are off. They become married, and we become the enemy.
CARRIE: (Voice-Over) As the only single lawyer working at her law firm... Miranda had given this topic some thought.
SAMANTHA: Married women are threatened because we can have sex... anytime, anywhere with anyone.
CARRIE: We can?
SAMANTHA: And they're afraid we're gonna have it anytime, anywhere with their husbands.
CHARLOTTE: I would never sleep with a married man.
SAMANTHA: What makes you so sure you haven't? Wedding rings come off, you know. Face it, ladies. If you're still single, you are not to be trusted.
CHARLOTTE: Come on! Not all married women feel that way.
CARRIE: (Voice-Over) Charlotte treated marriage like a sorority she was desperately hoping to pledge.
MIRANDA: You're right. Not all. The ones who don't fear you pity you.
CHARLOTTE: That's not true.
MIRANDA: Are you telling me you haven't gotten those "poor single you" Iooks?
CARRIE: I hate those.
CHARLOTTE: Okay, yes, I have. I hate it when you're the only single person at a dinner party... and they all look at you like you're a—
MIRANDA: Exactly! I'm telling you, married people are the enemy.
